To Mould & Be Moulded – Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)
The past year has been a journey of learning to trust and obey, and of embracing the challenges placed before us. Praise the Lord — through His faithfulness and abundant provision, we have experienced another blessed year in Children Sunday School.
In 2025, the Core Team comprises Rev. Hiram Lau, Carmen Lee, Emily Dou, Lemon Choi, and Miriam Kwong, who oversee the day-to-day operations. Our teaching team includes over 80 members across various congregations, with approximately 15% being youth members.
We successfully transitioned to the new teaching materials published by KIDSWISE, which place a stronger emphasis on gospel-centered Bible teaching. To further strengthen the partnership between Children Sunday School and families, and to encourage Bible reading and discussion at home, we introduced weekly Bible verses and “Food for Thought” reflections based on each week’s passage.
Starting from Term 2, 2025, we re-launched the Bible Reading Challenge program for Year 4–6 children. In Term 3, 2025, we began a Bible Memory Verse Challenge campaign to all children. These initiatives are designed to help cultivate a daily Bible reading habit and nurture a love for God’s Word.
Special Programs and Events
Here are some highlights of the special programs and events from the past year:
Mission
In September 2024, Alice D. and university students from Power to Change visited to share how to evangelize to friends at school. The children were given practical tips. Afterward, they coloured in a card for the friends at school and wrote letters to Chichipo, our sponsored child residing in Thailand, to share the love of God.
In December 2024, our children had another opportunity to put their “Mission” into action by colouring Christmas cards that were then delivered to patients at St Vincent’s Hospital to share the love and peace brought by Jesus in the festive season.
In June 2025, the children participated in a flag-selling fundraiser to support Chichipo and to contribute to the church’s general fund — another valuable opportunity to learn about serving the community.
Little Olympics (October 2024)
Our children participated in the fun and engaging activities at Roselea Public School. The purpose of the annual event was to promote bonding among the children and to encourage them to become supportive brothers and sisters to each other in Christ.
Year 6 Graduation (November 2024)
Graduating from Year 6 is always a remarkable milestone—not only for our children, who are moving into a new stage of life, but also for their parents, who have nurtured them in God’s way. The graduation ceremony was a time for us to celebrate and give thanks for God’s guidance throughout the primary school years, as well as to seek His continued guidance, protection, and care for both our children and their parents as they enter the youth stage. Our graduates and their families were blessed through the prayers of our church community.
Easter Outdoor Program (March 2025)
This year, we held an outdoor Easter program at Roselea Public School. The message of salvation was shared through various activities, culminating in a reflective object lesson on “Washing away the sin”. The children learned that Jesus washed away our sins with His blood, and that in order to place Him at the center of our lives, we must first ask for His forgiveness.
Children Sunday School Sunday Service (June 2025)
The theme of our special Sunday Service was “Knowing the Attributes of God through the Books of the Bible”. Children served as ushers, scripture readers, and members of the worship team. A wall display opposite the church boardroom showcases the books of the Bible alongside God’s attributes.
We also launched the ‘Guess Which’ activity, encouraging children to identify Bible stories and God’s attributes from the wall display. Parents’ assistance is welcomed to support this activity, which serves as another way to promote Bible engagement at home.
Additionally, we opened a Kids’ Library, where children can bring in a Christian-based book from home and swap it with one from our collection in the baby room.
Training and Support
To support our teachers, Dr. Kean Poon led a workshop in October 2024 on supporting children with additional needs. It was a fruitful session that offered many practical strategies and valuable mindset shifts for effective classroom management.
Throughout the year, end-of-term debriefing sessions are also held to support and encourage our teaching team.
Additionally, two of our sisters served as trainers alongside their teaching roles this year. This helps equip more teaching assistants to step up as teachers in the future, making the teaching team more sustainable.
We also relocated and refurbished our notice board, which now serves as an additional communication hub for the church community.
Looking Ahead
Over the past few years, we have fully utilized all available rooms on our church premises to nurture our children in God’s Word. At the beginning of 2025, there were 110 children registered, with an average weekly attendance of 78. Furthermore, the number of young families in the English Congregation has begun to grow. We have explored options to expand, including launching an additional Children Sunday School or renting a new location. At this stage, the former option is more feasible and hence, we are currently forming a Core Team to establish a Kids’ Church that will run concurrently with MES.
We humbly ask you to support us in prayer:
Pray that God will touch the hearts of brothers and sisters to see the need for a Kids’ Church and be willing to serve as Core Team members
Pray for God’s provision of enough teachers and teaching assistants for both the 9:00 AM Kids’ Church and 11:00 AM Children Sunday School in 2026
Pray for wisdom from Above so that the planning and arrangements for Kids’ Church and Children Sunday School are in accordance with the will of our Heavenly Father
Pray that the Word of God will continue to take root in the hearts of our children and help them grow in Him
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
